The Junior Circuit was a little more clear cut for the Cy Young than the Senior Circuit as the Detroit Tigers in another AL Central Title. They also followed the lead of not Justin Verlander but "Mad Max of Comerica" and that would be Tigers RHP Max Scherzer as he went through the Comp like a hot Butter Knife through a nice Brick of Land O' Lakes Butter. What did the Top 5 in the AL look like for the Cy Young as Mad Max gets the Trophy?

The Top 5 AL Cy Young Candidates (in Order)
Note: Numbers in Parenthesis AL Rank

#1 and the Winner: Max Scherzer #MotorCityTIGERS

Vitals: 21 Wins (1st) 2.90 ERA (5th) 214.1 IP (Tied 5th) 240 K (2nd)

He was lights out from jump street and looking at his overall numbers Hitters only hit .198 against him and that is #2 only to Rangers "Monster on the Bump" Yu "I Will Survive" Darvish. Yes he had excellent Run Support but when you are north of twenty W's...you left a large portion of your starts with a darn get lead and take that Run Support stuff to your local water hole.

#2 Yu Darvish #RangersHardball

Vitals: 13 Wins (13th) 2.83 ERA (4th) 209.2 IP (13th) 277 K (1st)

The W's slowed because the Rangers didn't give the Japanese Product good run support but he has arguably the best "Stuff" in the show. He can go to anyone of six pitches at anytime in the count and that is a testament to those 277 strike outs which is #1 in the Show overall. That's why the Rangers are built to last for a few years to come and they will hopefully get back Matt Harrison at some points in 2014.

#3 Bartolo Colon #SwinginAthletics

Vitals: 18 Wins (2nd) 2.65 ERA (2nd) 190.1 IP (23rd) 117 K (44th)

The W's and the ERA to go along with just 29 Free Passes was remarkable as the A's rode their Ace to the AL West Title again. He is no longer a Power Pitcher like he once was coming up in his young days with the Cleveland Indians. He is a Pitcher and makes Pitcher's Pitches in the count where need be. You can argue all day about that dreaded word again Run Support but 18 W's...C'mon Man!

#4 Hisashi Iwakuma #Ms

Vitals: 14 Wins (Tied 8th) 2.66 ERA (3rd) 219.2 IP (3rd) 185 K (12th)

Yes this is the other side of the Mariners Electric Duo with Kid Felix as no one knows about H.I. but MLB Heads and MLB Hitters. Japanese Native H.I. is all of that and again his "Stuff" has "Stuff" and just look at the ERA, Strikeouts, and MLB Hitters just hit .220 against him and only fellow Countryman Darvish and the Tigers Mad Max had a better number. Look the only thing they need in the 206 is a line Up and some Hitters as they have that dynamic #1 and #2 in that Starting Rotation.

#5 Matt Moore #OneMoreGameRAYS

Vitals: 17 Wins (Tied 3rd) 3.29 ERA (10th) 150.1 (47th) 143 K (27th)

He missed at least a months worth of starts but before that he was the Ace of that talented rays Starting Staff as Ace David Price was out due to injuries on two different occasions. Moore's .216 against him would have been 3rd ahead of Iwakuma. I could have went with the Tribe's Masterson, the Halos' Wilson, and the O's Chris Tillman but my gut tells me Matt Moore of the Rays.

Can Verlander and Anibal Sanchez along with "Mad Max of Comerica" get the Tigers rolling in the the "Fight for October"?
