The Game was closely contested and after "Big Papi" Ortiz of the Carmines went Two-Run Blast in the bottom half of the 6th inning it looked like another heartbreaking "L" for the Redbirds. Then with Lackey out in the 7th the Redbirds take advantage of Carmines Reliever Craig Breslow and some "Bad News Carmines" D and put a crooked three up in the top half of the 7th and that rolled the credits on Game 2...Redbirds 4 Bo Sox 2.
Redbirds RHP Michael Wacha was cruising for the most with the occasional Seat Belt Sign on for a little turbulence as did the Red Sox John Lackey. Wacha went six and allowed two runs on three hits while handing out four free passes and striking out six. Lackey went 6 1/3 and was charged for what he left on the pond in the 7th. He gets hit for three runs on five hits while walking two and striking out six. The Redbirds Pen won the contest Tonight as both Carlos Martinez and Trevor Rosenthal dominated the Sox Hitters.
Redbirds OF Carlos Beltran and Yadier Molina had the big hits as they get RBIs in the 7th. The one guy that the Redbirds need to stay away from is Sox DH and now First baseman heading to St. Louis David Ortiz. Ortiz had two of the four Red Sox Hits and accounted for the two Runs with the Bomb.
Now the series shifts to Baseball Town USA as the Series is tied 1-1 as we get into then three and four in the rotations. Games 3, 4, and 5 will be in St. Louis October 26th - October 28th.
