The voting will be closer than what the Bluedude has it as LHP and Dodgers Ace Clayton Kershaw (HS Teammate of one UGA Dawgs and current Restore the Roar QB Matt Stafford at Highland Park Texas) to me is the best in the Show counting the Senior and Junior Circuit. His 2013 ERA of 1.83 alone garners all the attention and on top of all that he is Pac-Man eating Innings at 236 just five innings off of my #2 Arm Adam Wainright of Baseball Town USA and the Redbirds.
The Top 5 NL Cy Young Candidates (in order)
Note: Numbers in Parenthesis is NL Rank
#1 and the Winner: Clayton Kershaw #DodgerBlue
Vitals: 16 Wins (tied 2nd) 1.83 ERA (1st) 236 IP (2nd) 232 K (1st)
Kershaw dominated even though he had nine losses in 2013 he took the Stitched One 33 times in 33 Chances as he didn't miss one start. He led the NL in ERA and Strikeouts as well as #2 in Inning pitched. Those numbers are shades of HOF Brooklyn/LA Dodgers LHP Sandy Koufax and that is steep company right there.
#2 Adam Wainright #BaseballTownUSA
Vitals: 19 Wins (1st) 2.94 ERA (7th) 241 IP (1st) 219 K (3rd)
He carried arguably and collectively the best Starting Rotations in the NL as he took the Stitched One 34 times in 34 chances. A real Horse and a true #1 on a World Championship Team. He will be a tough cover on the Bump looking forward to their series vs the Buccos.
#3 Cliff Lee #PhightinPhils
Vitals: 14 Wins (Tied 10th) 2.87 ERA (6th) 222.2 IP (3rd) 222 K (2nd)
Yes Baseball Knuckleheads you forgot about ole Lefty in Philly doing what he does and his win totals doesn't jump out at you but those other numbers are staggering for a Team that was put out of contention by Mid-Summers Classic 2K13 at Citi Field. The only reason Lee didn't get moved by the Trade Deadline...his Contract is too big for most Books right now!
#4 Zack Greinke #DodgerBlue
Vitals: 15 Wins (tied 6th) 2.63 ERA (4th) 177.2 (35th) 148 K (28th)
This is where all the arguments start and no the Bluedude isn't wearing my 1992 Mitchell and Ness Darryl Strawberry Dodgers Road Gray Jersey #44. Greinke missed at least 4-5 starts with that Shoulder Injury but from July through early September he was lights out and a vital part of that Dodgers Historic Run to the top.
#5 Jose Fernandez #FightinFish
Vitals: 12 Wins (Tied 21st) 2.19 ERA (2nd) 172.2 (39th) 187 K (14th)
This Kid is dynamite and I know the Tomahawk Shop 404 wants no part of hearing that noise. He only had 12 W's but Major League Hitters only hit .182 against him and that is #1 on the Senior Circuit as Kershaw was #2 at .195. He also had 28 starts in 28 chances and the #2 ERA behind Kershaw and a .098 WHIP (the Average Numbers of Walks and Hits allowed by a Pitcher divided by Innings Pitched) only Kershaw and Wainright had better WHIP's in 2013.
All these Pitchers are legit #1's and that's why if the Dodgers can get that Line Up somewhat healthy they should be the Favorite in the NL and to take the 2013 Fall CLassic because of Greinke and Kershaw's Dominance.
