The Chicago Blackhawks move to a 1-0 lead in their best of seven series versus the Minnesota Wild. The Hawks came out skating on all cylinders scoring the first three goals of the night. It looked to be a game 1 wash but its 60 minutes not 15 minutes and some change.
The Indian Head got it started just a minute and a half in on a Brandon Saad goal making it 1-0 Hawks. Patrick Kane twelve minutes later scored making it 2-0 Hawks and two minutes later Markus Kruger made it 3-0 Hawks. That run had the Wild shocked and skating for their game 1 lives as Devan Dubnyk in net a 2014-15 Vezina Trophy Finalists gave up three goals in the Hawks first five SOG.
Then in the 2nd with the Hawks up 3-0 the Wild put the Indian Head on its heels as Jason Zucker score just over a minute into the 2nd beating Corey Crawford making it 3-1 B-Hawks. Wild Star Winger Zach Parise then four minutes after Zucker get a tip-in making it 3-2. Before the midway point it was Mikael Grunland capping the 3-0 run with a score tying the game up at 3-3.
It was Coach "Q" of the B-Hawks time out that settled down the Indian Head from then on out. Hawks Rook Teuvo Teravainen then slaps one past Dubnyk nearly from the blue line at an odd angle making it 4-3 as the B-Hawks would go onto win by that score.
Dubnyk stopped 30 of 34 SOG while Crawford stopped 30 of 33 SOG. The Hawks offensively won the 1st and 3rd frames with the Wild winning frame #2. Game #2 will be Sunday May 3rd at 8:30pm ET at the Madhouse!
