The Dodgers are running away with the NL West. The Buccos of the NL Central have company but are slowly putting some light between them and the Redbirds and Red Legs. The Braves have all but locked up the NL East as they are some fifteen plus games ahead of the Nats. Is the NL Wild Card a two-trick pony or three counting the D-Backs?

The NL Leaders as of August 9, 2013

1. Tomahawk Shop 404 (70-45) 1st NL East
2. Buccos (70-44) 1st in NL Central
3. Dodgers (64-50) 1st in NL West

NL Wild Card Top 5

Leaders
1. Redbirds (66-48)
2. Red Legs (63-51) -3

3. D-Backs (58-55) -7.5
4. Nats (54-60) -12
5. Amazins' (52-60) -13

The Redbirds still have a shot at the NL Central Title as do the Red Legs. Whom ever grabs the NL Central is automatically in the Divisional and avoids the NL One-Game Playoff.

The D-Backs are 7 1/2 back of the Dodgers and are the same distance to getting to the NL West as to the #2 seed in the NL Wild Card. They have to focus on taking care of that D-Backs Clubhouse and let the Hardball's fall where they may.

The NL East Nats and Amazin's are under the .500 mark and that doesn't eliminate them but they need to get on the horse ASAP to get back in the Wild Card Race as we head into Mid-August Hardball.

If the NL "Fight for October" started right now it would be the Dodgers @ the Pirates and the Braves waiting on the one-game winner between the Redbirds and Red Legs....and that is action-packed October Hardball right there.
