It might play out the rest of the way in this series as the Washington Capitals with that improved "D" blanks the World's Most Famous Blue Shirts 1-0 at the Verizon Center to take a 2-1 series lead. All the attention was to the defense from both teams and those fools in the blue-paint locked in and doing what they do!
Braden Holtby of the Caps stops all 30 SOG as he was electric and led the Caps to that 2-1 series advantage. The Canadian-born net minder was the busiest in frame one where he faced 11 SOG to the 10 in the 3rd and 9 in the 2nd.
Rangers five-star blue-paint tenant from Sweden Henrik Lundqvist was equally as sharp as a "wrister" of the stick of Caps RW Jay Beagle got by him almost midway through the 2nd for the only score of the game. Henrik stopped 21 of 22 SOG as both teams fanned on two power plays each.
The Caps now move up 2-1 in the series after dominating on the face-off and they blocked some 27 shots to the Rangers blocking only a dozen. Trust me on this the Blue Shirts will be more than ready in game #4 at the Verizon Center as Washington D.C. Sports is a buzz following both the Caps and Wizards.
