The Minnesota Vikings take a nice size step as they give Defensive End Everson Griffen from Men of Troy U a nice sized $42.5 million contract for 60 months of service which reported through numerous Media Outlets contains $20 million guaranteed money.
Griffen only recorded 5.5 Red Jersey Collections in 2013 but the Vikes all but certain to lose DE Jared Allen had to start somewhere as Griffen is starting to live up to some of that hype coming out of USC. Remember the Vikes extended DE Brian Robison this past season as they also expect 2013 1st rounder Shariff Floyd from the Swamp to start at Defensive Tackle in year #2. Vikes new Lead Man Mike Zimmer will have that Defense better than it was in 2013 as "Zim" is that dude talking getting after it on that side of the Pigskin.
Now with Griffen getting this cash that should set the market for Top DE Free Agents like Michael Bennett who many thing could be on his way to the #BelieveInMonsters Outfit near Lake Michigan. Panthers DE Greg Hardy received the "Franchise Finger" (Franchise Tag) from the Panthers as he by most is considered the #1 DE Free Agent in 2014. Bennett is the #2 and Bengals Michael Johnson and Raiders Lamarr Houston round out the Top 5. Johnson will not be reunited with "Zim" with Griffen getting paid. Houston should stay in Oakland with the Raiders having some $60 million to spend in 2014.
