Thad Matta has had both Miller's on his Coaching Staff with Sean the Lead Man at Arizona and Archie the Lead Man at Dayton. It's never easy facing your Coaching Tree in the Regular Season let alone in March Madness then you throw in both Schools are from the same state and the Buckeyes and Matta had all sorts of scenarios coming at them.

The Dayton Flyers leading 33-30 at the break finally took the lead at 45-43 at the midway point on a Sam Thomspon (Chicago, Illinois Whitney Young HS) lay-up as the Buckeyes look like they would have things under control. It was 50-50 at the five minute mark as the Flyers had already let the Buckeyes know this is the Big Dance and it will be going down to the Wire.

Ohio State took another lead under a minute on a Thompson Layup to make it 57-55 but a foul by the Buckeyes Shannon Scott on a Dayton Money Ball by the Flyers DyShawn Pierre was costly. Pierre hot all three free throws to make it 58-57 Flyers. The Buckeyes Aaron Craft then made layup at 17 seconds left to give OSU a 59-58 lead. The Flyers Vee Sanford made a "J" with six seconds remaining as Craft's "J" with two seconds remaining was for not....Flyers spring the Upset.      

The Flyers were led by Pierre's 12 points and eight rebound effort as Devin Oliver added 11 points. The Buckeyes Sam Thompson had a game-high 18 points with Aaron Craft adding 16 points, five boards, and four assists. The Flyers now await the Winner in Buffalo, NY of the Syracuse/Western Michigan Tilt.
