The Redbirds grab their NL Leader (126 runs) in Runs in the Show in 2013 Second Baseman Matt Carpenter and get him at a bargain basement price. Carp gets a Six-Year $52 million deal being reported through numerous Media Outlets to stay in Baseball Town USA through the 2019 season. He hit .318 and led the Senior Circuit in Hits (199), Two-Baggers (55), and the aforementioned Runs at 126. Now Word around the Cards Clubhouse he is moving back to the Hot Corner and that is his natural position.
Carp now has some financial stability to go with that "Monster Game" of his that led him to his 1st Mid Summers Classic and he finished 4th on the Senior Circuit in the NL M.V.P. Race to boot. there is no doubt in my mind that the Cards and Pirates will be atop the NL Central leader board for 2014 and "Carp" will be leading the Charge playing 81 near the Gateway to the West.
