The Redbirds busted out early and with Ace Adam Wainright on the Bump it was easy sailing for the Cards in Game 1 as they beat the Buccos 9-1. Pirates Starter AJ Burnett lost it in the 3rd frame as the big blow was a 3-Run "Big Fly" by Redbirds RF Carlos Beltran in that seven run inning.

Wainright was at ease as he went seven and allowed one run three hits and struck out three frames worth of Buccos. Burnett was on the hook for two innings and seven runs on six hits as he also gave out four free passes. Burnett could not get out of the 3rd and was chased with nobody out in the Redbirds half of the 3rd. Of the Pirates four hits Star CF Andrew McCutchen had two of them as the Buccos other 2013 All-Star in Hot Corner Pedro "El Toro" Alvarez took Wainright deep for a Solo Bomb and the Pirates only run.

The Redbirds get three RBI from Beltran and two RBI from Hot Corner David Freese and it's Freese who always brings his A-Game when it hits October for the Redbirds. The Series will continue on Friday Afternoon at 1pm ET as the Buccos send Rookie Garrit Cole against the Redbirds 15-game winner Lance Lynn.
