It was not a good day for pitchers at the "Cell" on the South Side of the Windy City as one exits with no decision and the other an "L". The game was won though "At the Dish" and it was the North Siders out slugging the South Siders as the Cubbies win streak moves 8 games.
With the score 2-1 Sox in the 3rd it was Cubbies LF Chris Coghlan who took Sox starter Jeff Samardzija deep for a three-run blast making it 4-2 Cubs just like that. In the 4th it was Sox lead-off man Adam Eaton hitting a two-run shot off Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks as the Pale Hose added one more in the frame taking a 5-4 lead.
In the 5th it was Coghlan and Anthony Rizzo both taking Samardzija deep for solo bombs as the North Siders would go on top to stay 6-5. Samardzija would take the loss falling to 8-8 as he goes six giving five runs. Hendricks would get a no-decision after exiting in the 4th.
The Cubs Pen held up as the pivotal moment in the game was in the bottom half of the 8th with two runners on and Cubbies reliever Pedro Strop gets both Sox Hitters Eaton and Tyler Saladino striking out swinging to preserve the lead at 6-5.
The North Siders move to 66-48 while the Pale Hose fall to 54-59...
