The Duke Blue Devils outlasted a feisty Tom Izzo bunch as Duke senior PG Quinn Cook had a game-high 19 points and six helpers. The Spartans led by All-American candidate Branden Dawson (18 pts 9 rebs) inability to shoot the money ball (5-20 3pt FG) spelled gloom and doom.
Duke's fab freshman of "Big Jah" Jahlil Okafor (17 pts 5 rebs), Tyus Jones (17 pts 4 asst), and Justice Winslow (15 pts 6 rebs) were just too tough for Sparty. All three bring a uniqueness to Duke they have not had in quite sometime. The Blue Devils will be a tough out in the ACC and in March Madness 2014.
As for game 2 it was ll the Kentucky Wildcats and the #BBN as they destroyed a Bill Self Kansas club that is not as bad as it looked. The Pacers could have came out of that tunnel and the Wildcats would have beat them by double-digits.
The #BBN wins going away 72-40 as Soph "Big" Dakari Johnson led a balanced attack with 11 points with fellow soph Marcus Lee adding 4 points, seven boards, and four blocks. It was the 'Cats outstanding guard play led by the Harrison Twins (18 pts 4 rebs 6 asst) along with freshman Tyler Ulis who dominated the Kansas guards.
Kansas was led by super-soph Wayne Selden Jr's 9 points and fab freshman Cliff Alexander's 8 points and eight boards. Kansas will bounce back as they just need to be stronger in the guard play and they need someone to step up and be that leader.
