The Kansas City Chiefs with everything in front of them at 7-3, the Denver Broncos coming to Arrowhead week 12, Thanksgiving day no game, and they blew it! If this game was on Friday the Chiefs would have cashed in as Red Thursday < Red Friday and the Raiders playing in the Super Bowl every week knocks off the AFC west leading Chiefs.
This game had "Rap" written all over it with possibly the Chiefs players looking ahead to next week and the coming weeks. The Raiders led 14-3 at the break with the Chiefs offense looking flat. To Kansas City's credit though they mustered 17 second half points to take what looked to be a victory with Raiders rook QB Derek Carr looking really gun-shy in the 2nd half.
Carr with all that moxie led the Raiders on a 4th quarter drive for the 2014 season. It was 17 plays for 80 yards capped off by a James Jones 9-yd TD. The Chiefs did get 1:42 of time to get in the Raiders end zone but the football gods by then had already decided their fate in week 12.
Carr was 18 for 35 for 174 yards and a TD. The silver and black did chew up some 179 yards on the ground and the Chiefs just could not get of on 3rd down with Oakland 8 for 16 on 3rd down.
Chiefs QB Alex Smith got it going in the 2nd half as he was 20 for 36 for 234 yards and 2 TD's. RB Jamaal Charles had 80 yards on 19 carries but the Chiefs played with this game and got burned it's as simple as that!
Raiders move to 1-10 while the Chiefs fall to 7-4 and all of a sudden in a myriad of situations in the AFC west and the AFC conference.
