The Oakland Athletics knew it coming in as they had trouble dealing with Tigers Ace RHP Justin Verlander in Game 2 and they didn't get to him at all in the clinching Game 5. The Tigers shut out  the A's 3-0 as Verlander goes eight strong allowing no Ducks to his the dish and two hits as he struck out ten A's Hitters. He issued one free pass to A's OF Josh Reddick and that was it.

A's Starter Sonny Gray could not duplicate what he did in Game Two vs the Tigers and Verlander as he take the loss. Gray made one big mistake to the one player you never make a mistake to as Tigers Hot Corner Miggy Cabrera took Gray Deep for a two-run blast in the 4th and that was all that the Tigers and Verlander would need. Sonny was chased in the 6th with no outs  as his line was three runs on six hits as he walked four and struck out three. Tigers Shortstop Omar Infante grounded into a fielder's choice to get the other Tigers RBI.

Now the Tigers move onto to the ALCS to play against the Boston Red Sox in what should be a barn burner of a Series. The Carmines are well rested and now the format goes to a best of seven series.

Note: The Oakland Athetics struck out as a Team 57 Times in just five games vs the Tigers
