Seattle Mariners staring pitcher Tajuan Walker joins M's Tuesday starter Mike Montgomery blanking the San Diego Padres at Petco Park on "Hump Day"! The M's scored late breaking up a scoreless affair in the 6th on a Robbie Cano solo HR!
The M's scored in the 7th on a Cano RBI single making it 2-0 as they would eventually hang a crooked four up in the 9th highlighted by a Nelson Cruz two-run blast scoring again Cano! Walker was magnificent going six throwing a one-hitter. He and Montgomery in two games combined to allow just two hits in some 15 frames as that Padres Offense right now is below the "Mendoza Line"!
Friars starter James Shields went 6.2 frames allowing just two runs on four hits as he takes the "L" falling to 7-3. Shields had to be thinking he needed to go near "Perfect Game" to keep San Diego in this one.
M's at 36-42 can they get to that vaunted .500 mark before the break? The 'Dres scuffling some but still in it at 37-43 in the NL West as the Gigantes, Dodgers, and D-Backs are all in the mix!
