The Memphis Grizzlies took the #1 true Center off the NBA Free Agency Ticket by keeping their own in Marc Gasol. Look he wasn't going to be enticed by going to a bigger market as Memphis is all he has known since coming over from Spain.
Marc brings an "Anchor" in the middle and he also brings stability to a Franchise that has been on solid footing the last few years with nice runs in "Winning Time"! Fittingly enough he was drafted by the L.A. Lakers in 2007 and was packed off for his older Bro Pau in a four-player trade with the Grizz getting two more players besides Marc.
Now the former Defensive P.O.Y. (2013-14) and All-NBA 1st Team (2014-15) will get $110 million for five years and for the Grizz and Marc its a win win! He averaged 17.4 ppg 7.8 rpg with 1.6 blks in 2014-15 playing and starting in all but one game. He in my "Peepers" is the premier "Big" in the Logo until I see different!
The Grizz also gets former Brentwood Academy in swank Nashville Suburb Brentwood, Tennessee All-Stater and McDonald's All-American and North Carolina Tar Heels standout Brandan Wright who won four straight Chips in high school!
Wright played with the the Mavs, C's, and Suns in 2014-15 averaging around 7ppg 5 rpg. At three years $18 million a nice price for a "Big" who is ultra-athletic and a shot-blocker playing him alongside both Zach Randolph and Gasol!
