Two huge Red Zone Stops where the Panthers go 4 downs with nothing and then get Three was the pivotal point in the game. That set the tone for a game that looked to go down to a Photo Finish until the Niners realized we have to downhill on the Panthers.
Harbaugh and Company down 10-6 late in the 2nd frame take it 12 plays for 80 yards and put seven up right before hitting the concession stands and that Panthers Nation was the game breaker. The Niners then went up 13-10 and with "MO' on the Niners Side it was too much to overcome for a Panthers Bunch that was more worried about taking a Niner down an Alley than lining up and playing for the "Fight for George"...and it cost them.
49ers QB Kaepernick passed for 196 yards on 15 for 28 and a Score. But it was the Boys upfront like Staley, Iupati, and the Gang that paved the way for the Niners Net 126 yards on the ground that was the difference. That Panthers vaunted front never really got to Kaepernick and the Run Game kept them off balance. Niners WR Anquan Boldin (Pahokee, FL) an Alum of the Muck City Bowl and the National Champion FSU 'Noles grabbed 8 Pigs for 136 yards. He was major in the Niners Passing Game as all the attention was given to Crab #15 and the Predator #85.
The Panthers looked to have things rolling early but those Trips to the Red Zone in the 1st half and not getting in the Niners End Zone proved costly like it always does. Panthers QB Cam threw for 267 yards on 16 of 25 with a TD and two INTs. Both Panthers WRs Steve Smith (4 Pigs 74 yds TD) and Ted Ginn Jr. (4 Pigs 104 yds) did work on the outside as Cam also missed a lot of potential long gainers. The Panthers inability to run in the A-Gap when it counted proved to be the nail in the coffin for the Panthers as well. Simply the Panthers held Time of Possession in the 1st half...and the Niners held it when it counted most in the 2nd half.
San Fran now moves onto not the NFC Championship and "Fight for George" but Seahawks Week...enough said! The Panthers end on a sour note but the NFC South had Ne Headquarters in Charlotte, NC...believe that!
