The Colorado Avalanche go into the "Madhouse on Madison" jump out to a 2-0 lead early striking in the first period. The Hawks come right back with the Saad-Hossa-Shaw Line and take matters into their own hands striking in the 2nd with a goal and the 3rd with a goal. The Hawks and Avs then go Extras and the Avs win 3-2.
Hawks D Johnny Oduya gets a tip-in to get the Hawks back to a 2-1 deficit and that closed the 2nd period Avs up 2-1. Andrew Shaw gets a wrister deep into the 3rd frame as the Hawks tie the score at 2-2. The Avs then score with a under a minute left the Avs score the game-winner as Avs Defenseman Tyson Barrie gets goal #2 on the night as he scored the first the goal on the night. The Hawks had had their problems in Extras and Shootouts and that is huge cause for concern heading into the Olympic Break.
The Hawks shoot 48 Frozen Ones to the Avs Net as Avs Goalie Semyon Varlamov of Russia was on his A-Game as he stopped 46 of the shots. Hawks Corey Crawford stopped 23 of 26 as the Hawks have been struggling also getting goals. The Avs move to with the OT Win 29-12-5 good for 63 points in 3rd in the Central behind both the Blues and Hawks. The Hawks fall to 30-8-11 with 71 pts and that is just two ahead of the Blue Notes eight ahead of the Avs but four points back of the NHL Leading Anaheim Ducks.
The Blackhawks get Anaheim on Friday Night at the Madhouse for the showdown as #1 meets #2 as far as best records in Ice Games 2013-14...
