The Blackhawks thought they had caught a break not seeing the NHL's Leader in Goals Against Average Wild Net Minder Josh Harding as he is carrying a robust but stingy 1.65 GAA. The Hawks instead see Darcy Kuemper who brought his A-Game for all three periods as he stymied the Hawks Attack as they let 34 Frozen ones go on Net and only one gets by Kuemper with under a minute left in regulation. Wild win 2-1 as they struck Hawks Net Minder Antti Ranta twice in the first frame and that was all that was needed.
The Wild get only 19 frozen ones on net and Raanta stopped 17 of them. Meanwhile Kuemper stopped 33 of 34 shots almost doubling the output of the Wild and the Hawks lose a tough one with the St. Louis Blues breathing down their neck. Jason Pominville and Matte Cooke both go Wrister in the first for scores. The Hawks didn't light up the Siren until Citizen Kane 88 with under a minute left in Regulation or it was going to be shutout for Darcy Kuemper and the Wild and it was still an impressive win.
The Wild moves to 28-20-5 with 61 points as the Blackhawks fall to 32-9-12 and remain at 76 points. The Blue Notes beat the Blue Shirts 2-1 and moves to 34-11-5 with 73 points. Hawks host Winnipeg on Sunday January 26 at 7pm ET before they go on a six game Left Coast Motel Swing featuring Flames, Canucks, Fins, Monarchs, Mighty Ducks, and Yotes...a huge trip right before the Sochi 2014 Winter Games Break.
