The Chicago Blackhawks get by a tough gritty Boston Bruins Team that mirrors the 2012-13 Stanley Cup Runner-Up. The Hawks get a 3-2 win in a shootout as Citizen Kane 88 breaks his 0-9 Shootout streak vs the Spokes Net Minder Tuukka Rask.
The Blackhawks started the scoring in the first period as a blazin' Marian Hossa wrists one pass Rask to make it 1-0 early in the 1st period. The Spokes get a goal right at the end of the first to tie it at 1-1 on a Snap Shot from Brad "Mi Luv Mi Gold" Marchand. Marchand was at it again less than a minute into Period 2 as he wrists on by Hawks Net Minder Corey Crawford to make it 2-1 Spokes. The Hawks midway through the 2nd get a wrister from a weird angle from Brandon Bollig to know the game up at two as that was all the scoring in Regulation.
In the Shootout it was Captain Serious #19 Jonathan Toews who scored first as Bruins Ryan Spooner (before Toews) and Patrice Bergeron after Toews missed. Hawks "Sharpie" #10 Patrick Sharp then missed the Hawks 2nd try as Brad Marchand gets one by Crawford in Round 3 to make it 1-1. The last chance for the Hawks was "Kaner 88" (0-9 in Shootouts in 2013-14) as he goes glove side to beat Rask for the game-winner.
Both Net Minders were on their game as the Hawks Crawford (19-7-7) stopped 34 of 36 and the Bruins Rask (22-12-3) stopped 35 of 37. The Hawks move to 32-8-11 with 75 pts (2nd in West and NHL) while the Spokes move to 30-15-3 with 63 points (2nd in East).
