The San Diego Padres and Hot Corner Free Agent Manny Machado agree on a 10-year $300 million deal that will keep him playing home game sat Petco Park though the 2028 season. Yes Manny cashes in and he can play but does that automatically put the Padres in the NL Pennant Race...no not exactly.
The Chicago White Sox thought their $250 million over 96 months was on par and was noticeably shocked when Machado informed them he was signing with the Padres as the Pale Hose for some unforeseen reason thought they were a lock to grab Machado at that price. The Pale Hose said it wasn't about the money and its all about the C.R.E.A.M. and nothing else! (Cash Rules Everything Around Me).
We all know its all about hitting and pitching but in winning time better pitching beats hitting all game long. The Padres need to invest more into that but getting Machado with first baseman Eric Hosmer is a step in the right direction.
As for Bryce Harper where does he go as the Phightin' Phils appear to not be on his menu. The San Francisco Giants possibly as the mystery teams have to be the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees. Harper will command at least $300 million plus and the suitors are limited in that price range as the Chicago White Sox have said as early as today through reports they are not in the Harper Sweepstakes...stay tuned!
