Before we get into that Shootout won by the Chicago Blackhawks in need of two points in every contest from here on out if they want to catch the NHL Central leading "Preds" let's talk about the Blue-Paint!
Hawks net-minder Corey Crawford stops 46 of 47 SOG and all three SOG in the shootout as he went Vezina Trophy on this night. Not to be out done was Oilers blue-paint tenant Ben Scrivens who halted 38 of 39 Hawks SOG.
The Oilers scored in period one on a Derek Roy goal making it 1-0 Oilers. That goal stood through the rest of the 1st and all of the 2nd. It was Brent Seabrook slapper with under seven minutes remaining that tied the contest up. Both Captain Serious and Marian Hossa picked up points with the assists.
Nothing happened in the extra period as it came down to former 'Yotes Center Antoine Vermette as both Toews and Patrick Sharp missed their shootout goals. The Indian Head needed that as they were 0 for 2 on the power play.
Hawks grab two more points hitting 83 of those bad boys for a 39-21-5 W-L. That is good for 3rd in the Central and 4th in the west overall. Next up the "Blue Shirts" from World's Most Famous on Sunday March 8th at the Madhouse!
