The Aztecs really never had a shot as they came within a few times of money balls x 2 or x 3 of making it interesting. Too much Duke Blue Devils talented front line led by Freshmen "Big Jah" Jahlil Okafor and Justice Winslow. SDSU had no answers dealing with both and then you throw in Duke's "Smurfs" in the back court of Tyus Jones and Quinn Cook...Team Nantz advances in the South Region.
Okafor dominated with 26 points and six boards shooting 12 for 16 from the field. Winslow versatility on both ends of the hardwood as he added 13 points and a dozen boards with five assists, four thefts, and three blocks. Winslow also teamed up in High School for AAU with Houston, Texas Hoops AAU Squad with current Freshmen Kelly Oubre Jr. of Kansas and Justin Jackson of North Carolina. Cook dropped 15 points shooting 3 for 8 from deep.
The Aztecs were led by Winston Shephard's 13 points as he was the only Aztec in double figures. They shoot under 33% from the field and a grizzly 2 for 13 from the arc. The Aztecs just could not match up with Duke on any level on this day.
The Blue Devils advance to play Utah in Houston in the South Region...as the Runnin' Utes beat Georgetown yesterday to advance...
