Iowa State will learn from this hopefully but their have been doing this from the start of the 2014-15 season to now. With Kansas somewhat firmly in control of the Big 12 Championship in Kansas City, Missouri the Cyclones find a way again stealing the Big 12 Tourney Title and with it a for sure #3 seed in a region.
The Jayhawks up 37-23 at the break was on cruise control especially after a KU's DeVonte Graham hit a money ball just inside the one minute mark to give Rock Chalk a commanding 37-23 lead going into the break with Uncle Mo as in momentum riding shotgun! KU had to know the Cyclones were going to bring their A-game in the 2nd half and KU just didn't stop them or make enough plays as the 2nd belonged to the Cyclones under the spell of some of that "Hilton Magic"!
The 2nd half though had an inauspicious start as KU's PG Frank Mason III was fouled shooting a money ball as hit he all three free throws to move the KU lead to 40-23. Get this the Cyclones would rally outscoring KU 28-10 in the next eleven minutes to tie the game up at 51-51 with eight minutes remaining.
Iowa State would lead by as many as seven on two occasions late as KU would not go away tying the game up after the last Cyclones seven point lead 63-63 under the one minute mark. "Hilton Magic" would close out KU shooting from the stripe on a 7-3 run for a 70-66 upset.
The Cyclones were led by Georges Niang's 19 points while KU was led by Wayne Selden Jr.'s game-high 25 points. KU might also garner a #3 seed as Freshman Cliff Alexander continues to sit out during his NCAA Investigation. KU's other top freshman Kelly Oubre Jr was non-existent with 3 points on 1 for 3 shooting in 17 minutes.
If KU is going to go deep they at least need Oubre Jr. to p;lay like he is capable and ditto Selden's play or they will exit early...
