The Hawks wasted no time on a Minnesota Wild Bunch that is all but done heading as its only January. It was goals by Marian Hossa and Bryan Bickell in the 1st that sparked the Indian Head to a resounding 4-1 "W" over the Wild suffering its fifth straight "L"!
Then over midway through the 2nd frame it was newcomer Brad Richard "lighting the lamp" for his 9th with Hawks 5-Star Defenseman Jhonny Oduya of Team Sweden netting just his 2nd with a 1:35 remaining in the 2nd for a hawks 4-0 lead heading into the 3rd.
Corey "Craw-Dad" Crawford was headed for a shutout and had one until just under five minutes remaining the Wild's Matt Cooke off a ricochet of "Craw-Dad" right to him for a tip-in making the final score 4-1.
The Hawks net minder was peppered with 37 SOG saving 36. Wild net minder Niklas Backstrom saved 31 of 35 SOG. The Indian Head moves to 28-13-2 some 58 points good for 2nd in the Central behind the "Preds" with 60 points.
The Wild falls to 18-18-5 with 41 points and dead last in the central. Hawks will get the new Jets of Winnipeg on Friday January 16 at the Madhouse. Last time the Boys flying the F-16 on Ice handed hr Hawks an "L" at the Madhouse so the Indian Head will be looking for a little retribution!
