The Chicago Blackhawks needed to end the 1st half of the 2014-15 season on a solid note entering All-Star Break and they did just that. After taking apart the 'Yotes of the "Valley of the Sun" last night at the Madhouse the Hawks went head to head with one of Ice Games best in the Penguin of Pittsburgh Hockey!
It was David Rundblad goal in the 1st frame for the Hawks as they went up 1-0. The Indian Head then went power play in frame two and a Marian Hossa score his 10th on the season had the Hawks thinking we are headed to the All-Star Break with no turbulence.
Then the Pens got it going on a Zach Sill goal just three minutes after Hossa made it 2-0 Hawks. The Pens were not done in the 2nd as Steve Downie over midway through frame two "lights the lamp" for 'Burgh Hockey tying the game up at 2-2.
The score would stand through regulation as no one scored in the extra five minute as well. Then it was the Indian Head's "Tonto and Lone Ranger" in Captain Serious #19 and the Bison City Mullet #88 who both beats Pens "Blue Paint" Tenant Marc-Andre Fleury in the shootout as the Hawks get the much-needed two points and the win.
Hawks "Blue paint" Tenant Corey "Craw-Dad" Crawford stopped both shots by David Perron and "Sid the Kid" Crosby as "Craw-Dad" stopped 33 of 35 SOG. Fleury stopped 24 of 26 SOG as the "Pens outs hot the Hawks by +9.
Chicago enters All-Star Break 30-15-2 with 62 points as the Pittsburgh Penguins fall to 26-12-8 with 60 points.
