The Chicago Sky made another important step top becoming one of the Elite Teams in the WNBA on Saturday Night as they hosted Naperville, Illinois Native Candace Parker and the L.A Sparks. The Sky used a hot first half hand from Center Sylvia Fowles (17 pts all in the 1st half and before an apparent Right Ankle Injury) to get a 47-41 lead at intermission. The Sky then held serve after three frames leading 67-62. Then in the final frame held off a late rally from CP3 and the Sparks to get the Victory 94-82.
The Sky was led by Shooting Guard Epiphany Prince's 21 points and Rook Elena Delle Donne's 20 points and eight rebounds. Everyone wanted to see how the rook would size up against Candace Parker and she more than held her own. The "Original CP3" Parker led all scorers with 23 points and nine rebounds while dishing out four helpers. I would take either Parker or Lynx SF Maya Moore over any one Women;s Basketball Player in the World right now. But Delle Donne is fast moving up into those conversations. Imagine what the Women's USA Basketball Team will look like in the 2016 Summer Games in Rio....Yikes!
The Sky move to 7-3 and #2 in the East. The Sparks fall to 5-4 and they are 23rd in the West as we go to press. The Sky next up will host the Seattle Storm on Tuesday July 2, 2013.
