Washington Nationals trying to stay afloat and stay in range of catching the NL East leading Atlanta Braves put up 13 on the Ne York Mets in Citi Field. Left hand Ace "G2" of the "Potomac 2-Pack" Gio Gonzalez was on his 2012 Game going seven strong yielding only three hits while striking out seven and administering two free passes. The Mets Starter and #2 Phenom Zach Wheeler got a nice taste of "its not how Fast the Pitch is but where the Pitch is located". Wheeler lasted 4 2/3 innings while giving up five runs on six hits striking out five Nats but giving up two bombs. Both LaRoche and Werth took Wheeler deep on Solo Shots. Nats are in 2nd place in the NL East 6 1/2 back of the Braves. The Amazins' are 4th in the East and thirteen games back of the Braves.
After Miggy and Rays Closer Fernando Rodney glared back at one another on Saturday after that brush back Pitch the Rays took care of Biz on Sunday. Rays beat the Tigers 3-1 behind Rays Pitcher Jeremy Hellickson going six innings and allowing one run and that run was from Miggy Cabrera's Solo Shot in the 4th. Tigers Starter Rick Porcello takes the loss after going six and allowing three runs on eight hits. With the "W" the Rays are tied with the Bombers in the AL East and in 3rd while the Tigers are in a tie with the surging Cleveland Indians.
The NL East leading Atlanta Braves are starting to get some Hitting from RF Jason Heyward as they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2. Braves Hitters McCann, Uggla, and blazin' Ftreddie Freeman all went "Yard" to help Braves Starter Paul Maholm win his 9th decision. The Braves chased D-Backs Starter Trevor Cahill after just 4 1/3 innings as he allowed six runs on seven hits and three of those hits left the premises. The Braves are in a comfortable lead in the NL East. The D-Backs are leading the NL West but the other four teams including the Dodgers are all in the same car.
