Say it isn't so as the Orioles finally get to Tigers Ace Justin Verlander as they chase him after putting crooked numbers up in the 4th and 5th frames to beat the Tigers 5-2 . O's SS J.J. Hardy took Verlander deep for a two-run bomb in the 4th to start things off for the O's. O's Star Center Fielder Adam Jones then followed with the Big One a Three-Run Big Fly to cap the five runs owned by Verlander. Both Hunter and Miggy Cabrera of the Tigers collect two hits apiece but that Tigers Offense did nothing against O's Starter Zach Britton who went 5 1/3 and allowed one run on five hots and the run was a solo bomb. Verlander's Line was five innings seven hits and five runs while giving up two bombs. The O's needed this as the Carmines sweep their double-header.

The Chicago Cubs go into Redbirds Stadium and face the Show's Best (at least by W-L Record) and beat Cards Ace Adam Wainright 4-2. The Cubbies surprisingly enough put a crooked four up on Wainright in the top half of the first. The big blow was Cubs Center Fielder Ryan Sweeney's 2-run bomb. Wainright settled don after that allowing four runs on seven hits and two bombs. Wainright counterpart Cubs RHP Jeff Samardzija went 8 1/3 allowing just two runs on seven hits while striking out six Redbirds. The 3rd place Buccos pick a game on the NL Central leading Redbirds as they beat the 2nd place Reds.

The New York Mets take a double-header from the Atlanta Braves including a Gem in game one by Mets Ace Rookie Matt Harvey. Harvey goes seven innings and allowing three runs on three hits and sending thirteen Braves back to the Batting Cage to get their mind right. The Mets won that game 4-3.

Then in the Nightcap the Mets win 6-1 as Mets #2 Prospect Zach Wheeler goes six innings allowing 4 hits and striking out seven while giving up five free passes.  The Mets cruised as Braves Pitcher Pat Maholm pitched well allowing just two runs in seven innings. The Braves are still seven games up on both the Nats and Phils as the Phightin' Phil beat the Nats 4-2.
