Award named after Maurice Podoloff) and "Fight for Bill" (NBA Finals MVP Trophy named after Bill Russell) edges out Broncos QB Peyton manning and Nascars Mega-Star Jimmie Johnson for the "Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year".

James now joins NBA Legends and HOF Air Jordan and the "Hick from French Lick" Larry Bird as the only other NBA Players to win the Award.
