The Hawks needed a game like this to reassure they stay in "Lord Stanley" and Grant Park Parade Mode as they go 20 to 20 to 20 and Hawks Winger Brandon Saad goes Wrister in the 1st period and that stands as the only goal and the game-winner.
Just looking at how the score evolved you would have thought both Jonathan Quick and Corey Crawford were in net in this tightly contested contest. As it was the Kings Martin Jones in Net who stopped 29 of 30 Hawks Shots as he falls to a robust and impressive 8-2-0. Hawks Net Minder Antti Raanta was even more impressive as he stopped 26 of 26 the hawks by no know they have two Net Minders they can trust as that is straight battled-tested right there. Raanta moves to 9-1-3 on the season.
The Hawks now move to 28-7-7 with a Ice Games leading 63 points. The Kings fall to 25-11-4 and they have 54 points on the season as they hopefully get Quick back sooner rather than later. Quick is slated to be back early January as Team USA hopes to have him in Net as their #1 Net Minder for the 2014 Winter Games at Sochi.
