They struggled from the onset in the 2012-13 season as their #1 Star and Germany's Favorite Son Dirk @swish41 Nowitzki was out until after the new year with a knee aliment. They though then new Guards O.J. Mayo and Darren Collison were an upgrade and they both ended being Car Lemons. The Mavs now add Vet PG and Spain National Team Leader Jose Calderon formerly of the Pistons and the Dinosaurs. They also win the bid for Jackson, Mississippi's Favorite Son Monta Ellis aka "Mississippi Lightning". Can the Mavs with a new Motor make any hay in a loaded Top-Heavy Western Conference?

They upgraded at the Point Guard as they also ad former Mavs #2 Pick Devin Harris and 2013 Top Pick Shane Larkin who is out until November with that Broken Ankle.

At Shooting Guard Monta Ellis should be back scoring in bunches and he takes much-needed pressure of of Dirk at the offensive end. Wayne Ellington is a Sniper who stretches the "D" out.

Samuel Damlembert, Brandan Wright, DeJaun Blair, and Jae Crowder help on that front line but they still lack a Post Presence.

Sean Marion is till holding down the Small Forward but look for Vince Carter, Devin Ebanks, Crowder, and DeJaun Blair to still minutes from him slowly but surely. The Mavs really don't have a scorer at the Small Forward and that will hurt them as they move later into the season.

Can the Mavs with this current Roster be safely ranked in the West's Top Eight Teams? We will see as Calderon and Ellis should be exciting to watch as the Mavs in my estimation should be around that 50-52 win plateau.
