The Dallas Mavericks came right in aggressively grabbing Celtics PG Rajon Rondo and now they start that climb in the west among the elite teams. They picked on tonight a feisty Spurs Bunch looking like a rebuilding Project with no TP9, Manu, Kawhi, Green, Splitter, and the Spurs not "Running on Duncan".
The Spurs though came out fighting and led after one and at the break 47-42. Marco Belinelli led the Spurs at the break with 14 points with the Mavs "Mississippi Lightning" Monta Ellis leading Big D with 18 at the half.
The Mavs get a Devin Harris money ball at the end of the 3rd making it 77-75 Mavs but the Spurs still wouldn't fold. It was Monta Ellis scoring 13 of his game-high 38 points in the 4th as the Spurs just didn't have enough horses to close this one. Dallas wins 99-93 with "Double R" Rajon Rondo in his Mavs Debut with 6 points, seven boards, and nine assists.
Dallas was +18 points from the Arc and that was the difference. The Spurs get 21 points from Belinelli and 16 points and ten boards from Aron Baynes. PG Cory Joseph added 14 points and six assists with the "Red Rifle" Matt Bonner chipping in with 14 as well and Rook Kyle Anderson with 11 points and eight boards.
