No they didn't as Cubs Fans have the Cubs Convention coming up like no other and the Fat Man in the Red Suit delivers a Ace Left-Handed Pitcher down Theo Epstein and Joe Maddon's Chimney early with Mrs. Claus' famous Chocolate Chip Cookies!
Just like that at the stroke of Midnight the North Siders shock the Show at the MLB Winter Meetings with a 6-year $155 million deal to former Carmines Ace LHP Jon Lester and for the Cubbies that is the right move in all directions. Through numerous media outlets he has a 7th year that could move the deal in upwards of $170 million and he will cash that one after the Parade Route right down North Michigan Avenue Cubs Nation and yes the Bluedude went right to the darn Cubs blue and red and white confetti!
Lester known for his Big Game Deliveries is now a nice piece to a puzzle still with moving parts but Lester's piece to that puzzle is sizable by all accounts. Last season he was 16-11 with a 2.46 ERA with both the Carmines and Swingin' Elephants of Oakland Alameda County Coliseum. He is and has been a "Monsters on the Bump" at Bluedude Sportstalk for quite sometime and now Cubs Prez Theo Epstein with a checkbook with room to maneuver deliver again with that Theo Clock ticking on more than just "Hope" but some lofty 2015 and beyond "Expectations".
Taking a sneak peek at the Cubs Bullpen on the 3rd baseline at the "Friendly Confines" with the projected 2015 Rotation with @JLester31 at the top!
#1 Ace LHP Jon Lester (16-11, 2.46 ERA 32 starts)
2. RHP Jake Arrieta (10-5, 2.53 ERA 25 starts)
3. RHP Jason Hammel (10-11, 3.47 ERA 29 starts)
4. LHP Travis Wood (8-13, 5.03 ERA 31 starts)
5. RHP Kyle Hendricks (7-2, 2.46 ERA 13 starts)
Look you can draw your own conclusions especially if your team is the Redbirds, Buccos, Red Legs, or even Brew Crew but the Cubs just win the 2014 Free Agent Lottery and now they must starting winning ball games in that 162 starting in April 2015.
