Have you ever wondered who dresses some of the NFL and NBA Draft's Best -Dressed or Dressed to Impress for Success? Wonder no more the BlueDude has his Guy and his Guy is from Chi City....Chicago, Illinois...Born and Raised.
Put your mitts together for Mr. Super Suit Himself....Mr. Clarence "C.J." Jones....who has been dressing some of your Favorite Athletes of All Time in the NFL and NBA Drafts.
The BlueDude recently caught up with the Man at CJ Clothiers out of Memphis, Tennessee and wanted to ask him a few questions only the BlueDude would be able to ask in a Q and A and get in depth like only the Bluedude can:
CJ = Clarence "C.J." Jones
BST = Bluedude Sportstalk and the BLUEDUDE
BST: CJ give me your Chicago Hoops Background....who did you play with coming up and who is your best friend Today?
CJ: In Chicago there were some of the best players known in basketball. I have played in Parks all across Chi City against some of the best in Parks like....O'Keith Park, Coles Park, Grand Crossing, and many others. In those Parks I have played against some of the best in that time like Tracy Dildy (Current Head Coach Chicago State), Tim Hardaway (Former NBA Legend the UTEP 2-Step and Killer Cross-Over Fame), Daryl Dildy, Brian Leach, Anthony Manuel, Fernando Bunch, the Late Benji Wilson, Lowell Hamilton, Bryant Kirksey, Kip Morrison, PIG (O'Keefe Legend and rumor has it no one wanted PIG back in the Day....no one...Game like that), Walt Frazier Jr., Tyrone Dowd, and many others.
BST: What sparked your interest to get in the Business of Custom-Made Suits?
CJ: When I was attending College in Memphis, Tennessee at LeMoyne-Owen I saw the President of LMC with a Monograph Shirt on. I wanted to know where he purchased the Shirt from. While looking at the Monograph on the left cuff I found out who designed the shirt. He later made a few custom shirts for myself. I then showed Tim Hardaway who at the time was playing with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. Tim began taking notice of the custom shirts and was interested in purchasing some for himself. I in turn gave Tim two custom shirts as a birthday present. I then contacted the Guy who made the Shirts and he told me to purchase a Tape Measure and he would walk me through the measuring process. Needless to say after the completion of the Shirts, Tim loved them, and he ordered 20-25 more in Atlanta. Tim was so delighted with the whole process that he told me that this would be a great business for me and that we knew a lot of guys who would be very interested in getting some shirts made. I took him up on the Idea and later started my business with Custom Shirts and Suits.
BST: How long have you been in Business?
CJ: I've been in business for 19 Years.
BST: What are the Names of some of the Players CJ Clothiers outfitted in the 2011 NFL and NBA Drafts?
CJ: Marcus and Markieff Morris (Best-Dressed ManCaveSports.org) and Von Miller (Broncos)
BST: What are the names of the Players CJ Clothiers will outfit in the 2012 NFL and NBA Drafts?
CJ: #14 Michael Brockers (Geaux Tigers/Rams) and #18 Melvin Ingram (USC 'Cocks/Bolts). For the 2012 NBA Draft John Henson (UNC), Arnett Moultrie (Mississippi State), Kris Joseph (Syracuse), and Thomas Robinson (Kansas).
BST: Has CJ Clothiers ever outfitted the likes of some of Chicago's Best like Jordan and Pippen?
CJ: No....I have never worked with them.
BST: Is it just Athletes and Entertainers you work with?
CJ: No...I work for anyone who would like my services.
BST: Any Current Players you outfit on the BlueDude's Favorite Squads....Steelers and Bulls?
CJ: CJ Watson and Jimmy Butler Bulls and no current Steelers but T. Martin, DeShea Townsend, and Kevin Henry of former Steelers.
BST: What are some of the Trends we expect to see this year?
CJ: Euro-Style Suits...tighter-fitting Jackets, Pants, Shirts, and Shorter Jackets.
BST: What are some Draft Day Fashion No-No's?
CJ: I don't like Tuxedo-Style Looking Suits and really loud colors. In my opinion Draft Day Suits should look more Business Attire.
BST: Who was your Standout Athlete that kind of knew his Fashion last year in the Drafts?
CJ: Patrick Peterson a Top 5 Pick in the 2011 NFL Draft of the Arizona Cardinals.
BST: Can you elaborate on the Fabrics and Price Points in a CJ Custom-Made Suit?
CJ: The Price is based on the Fabric Selection. I love great Fabrics. I buy some of the best fabrics from Italy, England, and New York as well.
BST: What's the Wardrobe Selection Process for CJ Clothiers?
CJ: The Selection Process starts with us sitting down having a casual conversation while getting to know each other from a Style Standpoint. I ask him what colors does he like and style of suits he likes such as Traditional or European. I then ask him what type of Fit he would prefer and then we get a Color Scheme for the Event he will be attending. The last process is the fitting and I'm usually talking to him about the fit whether it is loose, tight, or in between.
And you thought you was doing something on Draft Day with your suit. A huge Thanks goes out to my guy Clarence "C.J." Jones of CJ Clothiers and Staff. Just another Bluedude Sportstalk Exclusive Q and A digging real deep to find that Diamond in the Rough....If you PLAY the PART....you must LOOK the PART.
