The Pittsburgh Pirates knew after last night's lost they could ill afford to go down 2-0 and face elimination in three straight vs the powerful Redbirds of Baseball Town USA. Buccos Rookie Starter Garrit Cole got that Memo and "EL Toro" and the Boys brought an assortment of Ash, Maple, and Bamboo to the Party to leave the 'Lou 1-1 and a 7-1 thrashing of the Cards.

Cole went six strong and allowed just one run and that was a Solo Bomb from Cards Back Stop Yadier Molina. Cole also issued one free pass and five strikeouts. Behind that outing was a run in the 2nd, crooked two's in the 3rd and 5th, and singled-out runs in the 7th and 8th as the Pirates dominated Redbirds Pitching. Buccos Third Baseman Pedro "El Toro" Alvarez went Two-Run Bomb         off Lynn and Pirates RF Starling Marte went Solo Bomb off Shelby Miller.

Back to the Starter Lynn he lasted 4 1/3 innings and allowed five ruins on seven hits as he walked three and struck out six. The Redbirds had to out that Fire out set by 'Burgh Hardball by some seven different pitchers...seven. Both Alvarez and Buccos Back Stop Russell Martin led the Bucs with two RBI each.

The Series now shifts back to PNC Park as the Pirates and Redbirds have Sunday and Monday dates with the Series tied 1-1.
