A year or so back I remember when "Boom" Chris Berman asked his Partner Tom Jackson on the Set of NFL Countdown who was the meanest player or the one player that put fear into everyone on the field? T.J. didn't even hesitate and said Mean Joe Greene of the Steelers. The unquestioned Leader of those dynamic 70s Steelers Bunch that has so many Hall of Famers from those Squads the Bluedude has lost count. On Monday Mean Joe called it Quits as a Steelers Scout and that ends a 27 year run with the Steelers sandwiched in by a stint on CBS as a Football Analyst.

Greene leaves the Steelers at least in a Work Capacity but his imprint on the Steelers Organization is second to none and will always be recognized as arguably the greatest Steelers of all time. A 1984 College Football Hall of Fame Inductee and a 1987 Canton Inductee. His play and his nicknames is forever in NFL and Steelers Lore as one of the greatest nicknames ever in the NFL.

As a Steeler he went from Player, to Assistant Coach, and then to Scout his last position until he called retired on Monday. That term "Once a Steeler always a Steeler" rings through and through talking Mean Joe Greene as the Steelers, Steelers Nation, and that Terrible Towel will miss #75 forever.

Mean Joe will always be remembered by the Coca-Cola Commercial he shot in the early 80s to the right...
