The Blackhawks came out in the 1st period doing what the game plan said to do pressure the Wings in their zone and get some Frozen Ones to Wings Net Minder Jimmy Howard. After Period One it was Hawks zero Wings zero but 15 top 9 Hawks in shots on net. That all changed in the 2nd frame as the Wings went O-Zone Layer in 1 minute.
Wings Center Gutsav Nyquist gets a wrister at the 7:49 mark in the 2nd frame for goal 1. The Stats in 2013 Winning Time Hawks 4-2 when they draw first blood the Wings 4-1 so numbers don't lie. Some 31 seconds after Nyquist scored Wings Left Winger Drew Miller gets a deflection with all sorts of action in front of the net. The Hawks got caught up in the first goal and paid for the 2nd goal. Hockey Town USA by then was at 109 decibels by then and the Hawks were in big trouble.
The 3rd frame looked to be the Hawks frame as the "Bison City Blur" Patrick Kane took the frozen one and stuck it right between Howard's legs for a Hawks score an all of a sudden here come the Hawks. Viktor Stalberg then put one in the net around two minutes later but Hawk Rook Winger Andrew Shaw got caught for Goalie Interference. That right there took the wind out the Hawks sails and the Wings Star Pavel Datsyuk got loose on a nifty pass from Franzen to end the scoring and the game at 3-1.
Hawks are still in a good spot down 2-1 as they need to get "MO" back on their side. Wings woke up with that Game 2 win in the Madhouse on Madison and one wonders can that Motown Train be stopped now that its full steam ahead.
