Then Arkansas Razorbacks Coach Nolan Richardson had a System in Place for an Uptempo Style that used the Basketball Court from Baseline to Baseline and Sideline to Sideline. This Style brought him a National Championship in 1994 and a Runner-Up in 1995. The Ball on Ball Full Court Man Press was known to Whoo Pig Sooie Nation as "40 Minutes of Hell".   Before the 90s Team captured the Title it was the Players in particular the back Court of the late 80s into the early 90s that put Arkansas Basketball back on the National Scene.

The Two Players in Questions were in my opinion on the Best Mc Donald's Boys All-American Ever the 1988 Team with the likes Zo Mourning (Indian River HS Chesapeake VA), Billy Owens (Carlisle HS PA), LaPhonso Ellis (East St. Louis Lincoln HS IL), Sean Kemp (Elkhart IN Concord HS), and Chris Jackson (Gulfport MS HS) to name a few.

6'7" Sniper Todd Day (Memphis TN Hamilton HS) and 6'2" Slick Point Guard Lee Mayberry (Tulsa OK Will Rogers HS) known at University Arkansas Fayetteville as "MAY-DAY". As teams were saying just that as these Two Dynamite Players torched the Opposition at every turn especially at Home in the Old Barnhill Arena.

Day was a Rail-Thin Sniper who could handle and shoot it from deep and could also use his Length to get out into the Passing Lanes. He was the 1st Big-Time National Recruit Coach Richardson signed at Arkansas. Day also was another in a Long Line of Memphis Products like Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway, David Vaughn, Keith Lee, and Elliott Perry to name a few.

Mayberry was the consummate Point with hidden Athleticism. He could Shoot it from Deep, excellent Mid-Range and Handle, with a the Ability to take a Bump or Two getting to the Cup. He was the Heart and Soul of Whoo Pig Sooie Team led by He and Day.

Both Players ranked in the Top 25 of that Talented National Class and the Razorbacks getting these Two Highly Sought after Recruits put them into a Top 5 Class Nationally in 1988.

As for their Pro Careers Ironically started like their Collegiate Career as Day was the Milwaukee Bucks #8 Pick Overall in 1992 and Mayberry was #23 Pick Overall by the Bucks as well. Neither Player had All-Star Caliber like Careers on the NBA Level but they played well enough to hold down Roster Spots for more than a few Seasons.

When talking about Nolan Richardson's Championship Years at the University of Arkansas you first have to talk about who started the "Whoo Pig Sooie" Train back to National Prominence...."MAY-DAY"
