SUNDAY TALK with a THROWBACK Talk of INSIDE BACKERS playing alongside #54 Brian URLACHER and longtime Teammate and Inside BACKER BRIGGS #55 has outlasted them all...a LOBOS/DESERT Swarm Fusion called NAVY and ORANGE Inside BACKER Heaven

The Bears didn't know what they had or knew what they had when they drafted a converted Inside Linebacker Brian Urlacher of the New Mexico Lobos in 2000. Trying to find a perfect Compliment to #54 would be another Problem the  Bears would have to solve.

Roosevelt Colvin of West Lafayette University Fame Boilermakers was already playing with the Bears as he was drafted a Season before Urlacher. A pretty good linebacker considering he was a 4th Round Pick. He was an Outsider Backer not Inside as the Bears were still trying to find 54 a mate.

The same Season in 1999 they picked Inside Backer Warrick Holdman of 12th Man College Station Texas and the Bears had them something for a few seasons they thought. Holdman and combined with Colvin on the Outside looked to be the Bears Future Backers with 54 until the 2003 NFL Draft.

The Bears get Desert Swarm of U of A Tuscon Inside Backer Lance "They couldn't even STOP ME in a Lamborghini Murciealgo" Briggs. It's funny now but Briggs wrecked a Lambo on the Edens Expressway in Chi City and ran from the Scene and was later ticketed for fleeing the Scene and QB's and Running Backs playing against 55 wish they could flee the scene as well.

Briggs and Urlacher have become the Staple of the Bears Defense for now going on a a Decade and somehow someway I am thinking 54 might have One more Year in him as they continue to Dominate the Inside of the Bears D. Now with Injuries catching up to 54 that might be the Only thing to derail his wanting to continue to play on Sunday. The Question is neither Colvin or Holdman couldn't stay in the Bears Plans and just like Briggs they weren't High Picks but give the Bears Credit. To pick 3 Backers as good as they are or were is some really nice Scouting as Colvin ended up winning 2 Super Bowls starting with the Patriots.

Look at those combined Stats for 54 and 55 and the Only thing missing and you know what's missing not since the 1985 Bears. They Tackle the World as though it is 11 on 2, they make Trips to Hawaii as they it is a Annual Corporate Meeting, Sacked the QB half a Hundo, and for Backers make Picks as though they play Uralcher and Briggs Island...now take that Revis Island.

The Bears will one day Retire #54 but if you ask #54 he would tell you I won't go up unless My #55 goes up as well. from 2003 - Current  They won't just say I was watching the Monsters of the Midway they will also say i was watching URLACHER and BRIGGS that Lobos/Desert Swarm Fusion.
