If the 2k15 Pittsburgh Pirates are to make a run for the NL Central Division skipping that one-game play-in in the NL Wild Card it had to start tonight as they get three head to head vs the NL Central leading St. Louis Cardinals.

Well the Buccos got that message and came out like gang busters on the Redbirds and their starter Carlos Martinez. Both Jung Ho Kang and Starlin Marte hit RBI singles in the 1st for a 2-0 Buccos lead after one. J.A. Happ was dealing for 'Burgh Hardball as the former Phightin' Phils Farmhand went seven shutout frames allowing three hits.

With the Buccos up 2-0 in the 5th Marte doubled home both Andrew McCutchen and Josh Harrison putting the Bucs up 4-0. Then in the 8th with Pittsburgh still up 4-0 Francisco Cervelli's RBI single made it 5-0 as they go onto beat the Redbirds 9-3.

Happ moves to 8-7 while Martinez falls to 13-7. The Buccos are the 3rd team in the Show to reach 80 W's moving to 80-53. The Redbirds still up 5.5 games on Pittsburgh must get on the board in this three-piece or #BUCN will leave town just 3.5 games back with 25 plus games left...
