Would you ever think in 2012 that Brees would be 1-4 through 5, Roethlisberger 2-3 through 5, Aaron Rodgers 2-3 through 5, and Peyton Manning 2-3 through 5. Well it has happened and 3 of the 4 seem to be having Injury Issues or Defensive Issues.
Breaking down these Elite Sunday Signal-Callers through Week 5:
Drew Brees Saints 1720 Yards 14 TD 6 INT 90.7 QBR: Brees and the Saints know they can't run the Pigskin but their Real Problems rely on the Defensive End where they are almost Dead Last in the Major Categories on D. Can they fix a 1-4 Start remains to be seen and it is all up to the Defense as Brees and Company will Score.
BIG Ben STEELERS 1487 Yards 10 TD 2 INT 99.9 QBR: Ben is having his Best Start ever and wouldn't you know it the Defense is starting to Bail on the Steelers. Yes the O-Line is banged up but the Defense is letting 4th Quarter Scores in almost every game. Titans and Eagles both scored Late 7s to and the Steelers were 1-1 in those Games. No Pressure up front is a Huge Problem and the inability to stop the Run.
Aaron Rodgers Packers 1299 Yards 10 TD 4 INT 96.9 QBR: The Packers haven't had their #1 WR Greg Jennings in some of those Games. The Run Game was coming on now #1 Back Benson goes Down and maybe for 2012. The Defense seems to be a Bend and will Break at Times. They can't stop the Run and Rodgers has been surprisingly not as Crisp with the Pigskin. The 49ers and Giants might have shaken the Pack up.
Peyton Manning Broncos 1499 11 TD 3 INT 101.2 QBR: Manning is almost on Course but it a Few Bad Games mixed in with some Real Good Ones. The Falcons and Patriots Games were a Wash. Texans dominated until Manning almost brought them back. The Wins vs the Steelers and Raiders are Teams that have a combined Record of 3-6. Both Sides of the Pigskin has been inconsistent for the Orange Crush.
Now the Question of looking ahead in which QB is more likely to have a Chance to come out of this and get to the Playoffs?
Brees with the Bounty still looming a D with 99 Problems and stopping teams from Scoring is one.
Roethlisberger whose Defense can't make the Defining Play at Necessary Times to make the Play.
Rodgers with a Top 3 Hardest Schedule of 2012 and with Issues from the Field into the Pack Locker Room.
Manning is still working out the Kinks but his Defense might be the best of the 4 QBs on the List.
I would say Roethlisberger and Manning because of the Issues with their Defense can be fixed in the Short Term and they have issues but not as many as the other Two Teams.
2012 Sunday Football has already been full of surprises and we are no where near the Halfway Point.
