The Chicago Cubs if anything it's always about beating the Cardinals at all costs. Yes it's three of 162 but the Cubbies get game 1 on Friday 6-5 and now take Saturday's Tilt 3-0 after two Bombs and a solid performance of the Bump from Jake Arrieta who was making his Cubs 2014 debut.
Opposite if Redbirds Young Star Michael Wacha (6 IP 5 H 2 R 3 BB 6 SO 1 HR) Arrieta went 5 1/3 Innings allowing just four hits walking two and striking out seven. But it was Cubs OF Junior Lake who broke up a 0-0 score in the bottom half of the 6h taking Wacha Yards for a Two-Run Job. Wacha then leaving after the 6th and on the hook for the "L" and got the "L" when Cubbies First Baseman Anthony Rizzo took Redbirds Reliever Randy Choate for a Solo Tater for a little insurance.
The Cubbies used four Pitchers after Arrieta was done and they kept the Redbirds shit out as North Siders Captain Save-A-Game Hector Rondon registers save #3. Cubs move to 11-17 and the Redbirds fall back under .500 at 15-16...
