The Tampa Bay Rays strike Japanese Sensation and Yankees Rookie Hurler Masahiro Tanaka as both Desmond Jennings and Wil Myers took Tanaka deep with another run in between that to make the score 3-0 Rays. Then the Yanks put crooked numbers up in the 4th, 7th, and 8th after the rays struck in the 1st, 3rd and 4th on Tanaka.
Yankees Mark Teixeira took Rays Starter Jake Odorizzi deep for a Two-Rum Tater to make it 3-2 Rays with the Yanks scoring one run each in the next two innings including a Solo Shot by Kelly Johnson to make it 4-3 Yanks. Tanaka settled down after the first four innings to get the "W" as he went seven allowing eight hits and three runs while striking out five and giving no free passes. The Yanks went onto score two in the 7th and three more in the 8th to cap the score at 9-3 Bombers.
Rays will all kinds of issues in that Bullpen and in the Starting Staff with Odorizzi taking a No-Decision going four allowing five hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts. Rays Reliever Josh Lueke takes the loss after he was lit up in the 6th and 7th giving up three runs on four hits in just two innings.
Yankees move to 16-13 while the Rays fall to 14-17...the Rubber Match on Sunday will feature Rays Erik Bedard (0-1) and C.C. Sabathia (3-3)
