This will be a knock down drag out affair between the Kings/Ducks as Anaheim has Home Ice taken away from then in game 1 as the Kings strike late in the 3rd and in extras to steal game 1 by the score 3-2. The Kings have the one thing that then Ducks do not have and that is Mr. Jonathan Quick in net.

The Kings struck first in in the first period on a Power Play Goal by Alec Martinez to make it 1-0. Matt Beleskey of the Ducks strikes right back just two minutes later to make it 1-1 and that would be in period 1.

The Ducks and Kings then go scoreless through the 2nd period as we head to the 3rd and midway through period three the Ducks gets a backhand goal from Teemu Selanne to make it 2-1 Duck as it looked like the game-winner. Then with Quick out of the net the Kings strike on a Anze Kopitar wrister that was stopped by Ducks Net Minder Jonas Hiller and wristed a foot off the ice by Marian Gaborik with just seven seconds remaining to tie the score 2-2 as we head to extras.

Some 12 minutes plus into extras Gaborik gets a Tip-In off of Kopitar and Doughty to win the game 3-2 and the Kings shock the Ducks just like that 3-2 in Extras and  1-0 Series lead. Quick stopped 33 of 35 shots as the Kings were without four of their Top 6 Defensemen. Hiller was magnificent until late stopping 33 of 36 shots.

Game 2 will be on Monday May 5th back at the Pond...
