The L.A. Lakers had to get this one as they chase down the #8 seed Jazz as we go to press and they win on the day the Lakers retire SHAQ Diesel's Jersey. The Lakers didn't disappoint as they pull away late to beat DIRKiliscious and the Mavs 101-81. The loss puts doubt in whether the Mavs can get to that 8th seed as they had to win the head to head battles and they lost this one.

Behind 24 points and twelve rebounds from Dwight and 23 points, eleven rebounds, and eleven assists from the Black Mamba the Lakers turned it up late as they needed all hands on deck and their Stars to play Big and both of those factors came to fruition. The "Spaniard" Pau Gasol added 14 points, ten rebounds, and six helpers while the "Earl of Staples" erupted into 17 points and twelve rebounds, and five blocked shots as he wanted let Lakers Lead Man MDA know that he was still breathing...that's it.

The Mavs fell behind at halftime and midway through the 3rd frame and expended too much energy playing catch up. The Mavs placed five players in double figures but no one came close to the O-Zone Layer and that's what they needed in this one with all that Lakers Nation Energy in the building. Center Chris Kaman led the Mavs with 14 points while Mayo added 12 points and VINcanity, D.C. and DIRKiliscious all had eleven points.

The Lakers as we go to press are tied with the Jazz for #8 but the Jazz own the Tiebreaker. The Mavs fall behind 2 1/2 games and that was costly with under ten games to play.
