Washington CAPITALS and ALEXANDER the GREAT get big win in WINTER Classic....... SID and the PENS had a lackluster effort to say the least

Alex OVECHKIN needed to make a statement let alone his CAPITALS Teammates and they did Saturday night at the WINTER Classic in Pittsburgh, PA.

The CAPS used a smothering DEFENSE and out skated the PENGUINS to 3-1 victory in some of the worst weather conditions the CLASSIC has seen since its inaguartion a few years back.

Now with the WIN the CAPS have to capitalize on the effort at which it took them to get past the PENS and run with that style the rest of the season to be successful.

The PENS on the other hand couldn't really get it going and they played well enough to pull it out but just didn't make the necessary plays at the necessary time to win the contest.

Now the CAPS have 51 points only 2 behind the state of PENNSYLVANIA in the PENS and the FLYERS. The EASTERN Conference should be a battle all the way to the end.
