The Chicago Blackhawks took another huge step and keeping that "Fight for Lord Stanley" Core together this week as the extend Stanley Cup Winning and Canadian Net Minder Corey Crawford and Swedish Defenseman Nikolas Hjalmarrsson.

Crawford was was fabulous in his Stanley Cup Run as he was at the top of the heap along with Spokes Net Minder Tukka Rask for Goals Against Average through the Playoffs. The Hawks ink the Hawks Nation favorite "Craw-Dad" to a 6-year $36 million extension. Crawford will play the 2013-14 season under his first deal and he will make around $2.55 million this season. The Hawks tried top keep Ray Emery but it would have been too expensive to keep both as Emery was looking for a starting role and full-time work as he signed a deal with the New Broad Street Bullies the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Hawks also inked today Defenseman and Swede Niklas Hjalmarrsson to a reported 5-year $20.5 million extension as Nik will play out his last deal in 2013-14 for $3.5 million. Hjalmarsson was a huge key to that Hawks "D" especially when former Norris Trophy Winner D Duncan Keith was suspended a game in the Western Conference Finals and Hjalmarsson stepped in his absence. The Hawks now have the core that formed the majority of that great balance from scoring to defense as they try to capture Cup #3 in six seasons.

360 Degrees...Hawks GM Stan Bowman continues to make the right moves and for once Hawks Nation is elated that a Bowman is on our side as 'POPS" Scotty Bowman use to hammer the Hawks coaching the Hockey Town USA...the Detroit Redwings!
