The Kansas City Royals made a huge statement on Friday Night that the AL Wild Card will have a Royal Blue influence one way or another. The Rangers and Royals go tooth and nail on Friday Night only to see the Royals come out on top 2-1 as they get a run in the bottom of the 8th.
Both Pitchers pitched well enough to win as Rangers Youngster Martin Perez went 5 2/3 innings giving up just one run on seven hits as he walked four and struck out three. Those free passes never came back to hunt Perez. The Rangers Pen did an excellent jump except for a rough patch in the 8th that cost them. For the Royals to win on a bases loaded walk shows you how tight the action really was. Rangers Back Stop AJ Pierzynski had the only RBI for the rangers. The Royals get an RBI from OF Justin Maxwell and SS Alcides Escobar.
The Royals Starter Ervin Santana was dealing as he went 7 1/3 innings giving up just one run on five hits as he gave out one free pass and struck out four. The Royals now stay close to the Wild Card Race just 2.5 games back. The Rangers now fall behind the pack as the Tribe moves into the #2 slot with Texas falling to the #3 slot. MLB Heads it is going to be a photo finish and as we go to press you never know whose going to do what!
