The Stat can be misleading and its not how many Yards Defenses give up but its when Teams get in the Red Zone do you turn them over, hold them to a FG, or do they put it in your End Zone. The Teams who have Offenses that can grind out Possession after Possession are the Teams that flourish when the D can stop the Opposition from chewing up Yards.
Sunday's Top Defenses in Yards Allowed per Game through Week 10 is sponsored by...If your at the Top of the Heap what's your Record and you must be over .500 right?
Top 10 Defenses in Yards Allowed per Game plus W-L Record
Note: Points Allowed per Game in Parenthesis
1. STEELERS 265.7 (19.7) 6-3
(DE #99 Keisel aka BEARDman pictured)
2. TEXANS 281.6 (15.8) 8-1
3. FORTY-NINERS 292.1 (17.2) 6-2-1
4. 12th MAN 296.8 (16.1) 6-4
5. Da BEARS 307.3 (14.8) 7-2
6. ORANGE CRUSH 316.8 (21.0) 6-3
7. BOLTS 317 (21.2) 4-5
8. COWBOYS 318.8 (22.7) 4-5
9. BIRD GANG Arizona 320.7 (19.2) 4-5
10. D-Town LIONS 329.7 (24.7) 4-5
The Steelers are at it again and the Run Defense is as good as its been in the Past but the Passing Defense is #1 and Stingy and that's without Polamalu. They will get tested this Week as its Ravens Week in the Burgh with Bumble Bee Jerseys on the Menu......'BURGH Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Texans are led by the NFL Defensive POY in DE JJ Watt and they are swarming with Barwin, Ja Jo Island, and Safety Daniel Manning among others. They stopped the Bear Tracks in Soldier Field last week.
Niners are Ferocious and they are led by the "Carbon Copy" Stick Edition the Smith Boys no relation...Justin and Aldon with Super-Backers Willis and Bowman. They also have Hard-Hitting Safeties in Whitner and Goldson.
Not to be out done by their NFC West Rivals the Hawks Nest is Legit and behind Fast Backers like Wright and Wagner along with a Top Shelf Secondary led by Sherman Island and Safety Earl Thomas....the 12th Man is arguably the toughest place to play in Sunday Tackle Football.
Da Bears played well vs the Texans as RB Arian Foster was the difference. They still have the best Set of Corners in Mr. Jennings Bears Edition and Peanut of Halas Hall. And the Front 7 with Peppers, Urlacher, and Briggs are "Monsters Inside QBs"
The Orange Crush is a Product of Rush Ends Dumervil and Von Miller and fast Backers. They also have a Live Secondary led by Champ Island and Porter Island...when Porter is healthy. Former Jags Lead Man Jack Del Rio is the Coordinator and now you know why.
Cowboys are led by D-Coordinator Rob Ryan and the Ryan Boys are better Coordinators than Lead Man as evidence in Met Life Green. The 'Boys do it with Red Jersey Collector DeMarcus Ware and they have Cash and expectations in their Islands...2012 1st Round Pick Mo Claiborne and 2012 FA Pick Up from Arrowhead Nation Brandon Carr with Two R's. They miss MLB and Captain Sean Lee as he is the Leader of that D.
Bird Gang of Red Zone is all that and if they had a QB they would be right in the Middle of the NFC Pack. New D-Coordinator Ray Horton (Former Steelers Defensive Back Coach from 2004-10) has Monsters all over that D...DTs Calais Campbell, Darnell Dockett, Backer Daryl Washington, and Safety Adrian Wilson and 2nd Year Stud Corner Patrick Peterson. They need to get the QB Situation stable as that D is in a Glass Case.
The Motor City Lions strength is up front led by DT Ndamukong Suh and DE Kyle Vanden Bosch who is Big Red Lincoln Alum. They have a Steady Leader and Backer in former Titans Stephen Tulloch and a Pro Bowl Caliber Safety in Lou Delmas.
Against these Defenses you need to be precise and not give them any chance to get a Turnover or you will be on the Wrong Side of the Score.
Three Teams from the NFC West and Three Teams in the Top 11 including the Chiefs (#11) from AFC West in the Top 11.
